Drawing heavily upon the 20th century queer photography and analog film aesthetics, Illuminated Isolation operates like a fragmented storyboard, as it explores a sort of a ‘limbic friction’, or rather, the intersection between psychological estrangement, undisclosed desires, and mystical trappings of the subconscious mind. Centered around two male figures – the avatars of heightened vulnerability – the series navigates through stark, unwelcoming spaces, ranging from brutalist chambers to ancient stone ruins, and invites the viewer to piece together a liminal narrative of tension, (dis)connection and introspection suspended out of time.
